765 ILCS 605/9 (Condominium Property Act)
What the law requires
Unit owners share the common expenses in the percentages set by the declaration, and an unpaid share becomes a lien on the unit. Section 9 governs how the budget is adopted, the notice owners receive of assessment increases and special assessments, and the owner's right in some cases to petition for a vote on them.
